Reading

At Ridgeway, we aim to support our pupils in both developing a lifelong love of language and literature and in equipping them with the skills to succeed and reach their full potential. We believe that reading underpins many aspects of learning and therefore we promote engagement with high quality texts and media across our curriculum.  Reading is a way to learn more about ourselves and also about the lives of others and provide our pupils with a window on modern Britain and the wider world. We therefore encourage and enable the exploration of a wide range of genres, authors and cultures, which in turn develops our readers  into caring, respectful individuals.
